About The Grand
Gilston, Gold Coast hinterland, Queensland
A bushland course with a tumbling landform in the Gold Coast hinterland, regarded as one of the region's best and most dramatic layouts, including back-to-back par-5s at the 11th and 12th.
Designed by Greg Norman, the course opened in 1990 for Japanese owners but closed after a single day for lack of funds; a consortium revived it and Norman's firm restored the course, reopening it as The Grand Golf Club in December 1997, which later hosted the 2001 Australian Open.
Photos from the round will appear after Ritchie plays.
